This is the earliest dated A-Meri-Card we've seen. I'm not sure the date wasn't added later (and incorrectly) as it is so much earlier than most sources will say A-Meri-Card appeared (circa 1950s is usually cited however there are enough dated cards to suggest they were making valentines at least as early as the late 1940s). The phone style, however, is correct for the late 1930s. But its not uncommon for valentine artists to go for a nostalgic look, drawing characters or props in the style of earlier days, so we're not 100% convinced of the accuracy of the date written on the card. We'd be interested to know if YOU have dated A-Meri-Card cards with dates from the 1940s or 1930s written on them.
